Solid-State Overdrive Controller
Operating your A-type or J-type overdrive with our Solid-State Overdrive Controller provides several important benefits that improve both convenience and reliability.
With the controller installed, you no longer need to remember to manually switch off the overdrive when shifting gears, stopping at traffic lights, or maneuvering at low speeds. Each time the transmission passes through neutral, the controller automatically disengages the overdrive. Your overdrive control is now at the tip of your thumb.
Another advantage is protection from reverse electromotive force (EMF) generated by the overdrive solenoid when it is de-energized. In stock systems using a mechanical column-mounted switch, this reverse EMF can feed back into the switch contacts and eventually cause switch failure. The Solid-State Overdrive Controller isolates the solenoid power circuit and suppresses this energy electronically with a dedicated protection circuit, helping extend the life of the overdrive electrical system.
The controller also provides clear visual feedback. An external panel-mount LED indicates when the overdrive is engaged, while three diagnostic LEDs on the controller show Power, Armed, and Engaged status, which is explained in detail in the manual.
The complete kit includes the controller, a custom wire kit, the external LED indicator, and a bespoke wooden shift knob with an integrated overdrive push-button switch, creating a fully self-contained installation package.
Together, the automation, electrical protection, and real-time status indication make the Solid-State Overdrive Controller a reliable and user-friendly upgrade for managing your A-type or J-type overdrive.
External LED Assembly and custom wire kit Included
External LED Assembly
The External LED Assembly comes with a green panel mount LED and approximately 5’ of cable. The wire harness contains a polarized connector to allow you to disconnect the LED if necessary to perform maintenance requiring removing the indicator. Other colors are available on special request.

Each wire in the wire kit is individually packed, labeled and referenced individually in the installation manual.
Custom wooden gear shift knob with integral momentary push button switch included
Gearshift knobs with integral momentary push button switch are included with the kit. The knob is hand made from Bolivian Rosewood, an exotic south American hardwood with an attractive Triumph logo mounted on top as shown to the left.
